Oxford University is one of the world’s leading academic institutions. Its current challenge is to secure sufficient funding to preserve academic excellence; to continue attracting, developing and retaining the best academics and students and to create an organisation that actively supports these ambitions. Working across the full remit of Oxford University’s structure (Central administration, Finance, Divisions, Departments) Maxxim worked with the Vice-Chancellor and his senior team to simplify structures and clarify roles, accountabilities and processes. Maxxim conducted a review of Oxford’s Central Administration function, and helped create a new client centric service model. Additionally a radical overhaul of all financial procedures and structures was carried out, including creation of new budget and forecasting process, streamlining of management reports and a reduction of the number of cost codes. Further reviews were also carried out in the Maths, Physical and Life Sciences division, Chemistry department, Department for Continuing Education, VC’s Private Office and the Estates Directorate.
