- Wolseley is the largest specialist trade distributor in the world, employing 47,000 employees across 4,400 branches in 25 countries. In the year ending the 31st of July 2010, Wolseley reported sales of £13.2bn. Maxxim has worked with Wolseley since 2008 under two CEOs.
Phase 1 – Diagnostic and SWOT analysis of the Corporate Centre
Maxxim was asked to review the current size, shape and capability of the corporate centre, through data analysis, benchmarking, interviews and workshops with the Executive Committee. The outcome of these was a clear recommendation of how the corporate centre should be restructured along with the cost savings available and the benefits of such change.
Phase 2 – Corporate Centre Transformation
This phase validated the initial conclusions with each of the functional leads and helped the Executive Committee secure broader commitment to the proposed changes. A target organisational blueprint was created that delivered significant cost savings and was supported by high level structure charts and job descriptions alongside a new responsibility matrix covering the new style corporate centre and the business units. These results were presented to the new CEO, who was appointed during the course of the project. These recommendations formed a key part of his new strategy. - Testimonials
